The police on Monday arrested a 17-year-old boy in connection with the double murder of two brothers who had rented their house in Rani Garden in Geeta Colony to the accused and his family and recovered the pistol used in the murder from the house of a relative of the boy. The weapon was with the boy's family, they said. Crime Branch officials said the boy decided to shoot the siblings over the rent issue - they were forcing the accused's family to vacate the house and were refusing to return the security deposit of Rs 4 lakh, which was against a written agreement between the two parties.

Several raids were conducted and teams were dispatched to nab the teenager. On Sunday night, it was learnt that the boy was in Nizamuddin Basti. He was nabbed on Monday. On Saturday, a 20-year-old man was found dead at his shop - where he was doing whitewashing work - around 6.40 pm and his 25-year-old brother was found dead at his house, four hours after the first body was found. Police said the two murder sites were barely 50 metres apart. Police said that a few hours before the incident, around 4 pm on Saturday, the 20-year-old victim misbehaved with the boy, following which the boy allegedly shot dead his brother, who was at his home, and then followed the 20-year-old in search of a suitable opportunity.
