Mission Shakti of Yogi government towards empowering women
It is possible to transform the society by empowering women. With this ideology, the Kanya Pujan held during Navratri at Gorakhnath temple gives an important message. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken many important steps towards empowering women through Mission Shakti, further strengthening this tradition. Under Mission Shakti, schemes like Anti Romeo Squad, Pink Toilets, Pink Buses, and the formation of Mahila Battalion promote the safety and self-reliance of women. Apart from this, programs like Lakhpati Didi, Bank Sakhi, and Sukanya Yojana have been created to make women financially strong. Through these schemes, destitute women are also being given the opportunity of self-reliance through pension and self-help groups.
Women have been given special respect in the tradition of Gorakshapeeth located in Gorakhpur. During Kanya Pujan every Navratri, the Chief Minister himself washes the feet of the girls, feeds them and bids them farewell by giving Dakshina. This tradition is not only a symbol of religious but also social empowerment. Special attention has been given to women's self-reliance in the education of Gorakshapeeth. In many institutions run by Maharana Pratap Shiksha Parishad, priority has been given to the education of girls. There is also a provision of co-education in these, due to which the girl students are moving towards self-reliance along with education. Major institutions include Maharana Pratap Mahila PG College, Balika Inter College and Sewing-Embroidery Training Center. This Mission Shakti of Yogi Adityanath's government is working to give a new direction to the society by empowering women. Taking forward the tradition of giving respect to women in Indian culture, this program is an important step towards making women self-reliant and capable. This effort of the Yogi government is towards bringing a positive change not only for women, but for the entire society.
