Central government releases total Rs 675 crore for flood affected states
Floods in many states of India have disrupted normal life. Meanwhile, the central government on Monday approved the release of a total of Rs 675 crore from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) and the central share from the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) for three flood affected states Gujarat, Manipur and Tripura. Out of the Rs 675 crore approved by the central government, Gujarat has been allotted Rs 600 crore, Manipur Rs 50 crore and Tripura Rs 25 crore. A statement from the Union Home Ministry said that these three states have been affected due to extremely heavy rainfall, floods and landslides during the southwest monsoon this year.
Recently, many states of India like Assam, Mizoram, Kerala, Tripura, Nagaland, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Manipur have been affected by floods. Inter-ministerial central teams (IMCT) have been deployed to assess the damage in all these states. These states will be given assistance after the report of the IMCT. Recently, Bihar and West Bengal are also in the grip of severe floods. IMCT will also be sent to these states soon so that the damage can be assessed on the spot. In the year 2024, the Central Government has released Rs 9044.80 crore from SDRF to 21 states, Rs 4528.66 crore from NDRF to 15 states and Rs 1385.45 crore from SDMF to 11 states. Along with financial assistance, the Central Government has provided all the logistical assistance to all the flood affected states including deployment of NDRF teams, Army teams and Air Force support.
