Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi on Saturday paid tribute to CPI General Secretary Sitaram Yechury at the CPI office in Delhi.Congress leaders Jairam Ramesh, Ajay Maken, Rajiv Shukla and several CPI leaders and workers arrived at the CPI office in Delhi to pay tribute to Yechury. His mortal remains were taken to the party office from his residence in Vasant Kunj here. Yechury died on September 12 at AIIMS hospital after suffering from a respiratory tract infection. Speaking to ANI, Kerala Minister P Rajeev said his demise has created a huge void in national politics.

On Friday, Union minister and BJP national president JP Nadda visited his residence to pay his tributes. Remembering Yechury, Nadda said he maintained relations even with those whose views were different from his. "Paid floral tributes to the mortal remains of former Rajya Sabha MP and CPI(M) General Secretary late Shri Sitaram Yechury ji. Both of us had different ideologies. He was a man with a greater inclination towards ideas but at the same time, he maintained relations with those whose views were different from his," Nadda wrote in a post on Instagram. He believed in agreeing to disagree and often said that this is the beauty of democracy."

Recalling the memories of the late CPI(M) leader, Nadda said he was very firm in his views and devoted his whole life to propagate those views, but being a social person we can never forget his personal relationships and humanistic approach.
