Trader's sit-in at Sales Tax Office, accuses officers of harassment

In an unexpected incident at the Sales Tax Check Post Office in Mohan Nagar, trader Akshay Jain staged a sit-in and accused the officers of harassment. The trader expressed his displeasure by taking off his clothes and protesting in the office. Jain alleges that the Sales Tax officers are unnecessarily harassing him and creating financial pressure on him by imposing heavy fines on him in an unfair manner. Trader Akshay Jain said that he is being asked to meet a target of Rs 85 lakh, which is unusual and unfair compared to other traders. He clarified that he has not evaded any tax and is operating his business completely under the rules. According to him, the officers are targeting only him and are continuously pressurizing him.

Jain also told that recently the vehicle of an iron trader coming from Meerut was stopped by the Sales Tax officials and the vehicle was stopped without any concrete reason. Later the vehicle was released only after imposing a heavy fine. This entire incident has created concern and dissatisfaction among the traders. Akshay Jain strongly condemned this attitude of the officials and said that he is being repeatedly pressurized to meet the target. He also says that the officials of the Sales Tax Department are targeting his business and taking action, while other traders are not facing such problems.

Rising dissatisfaction among traders

After this incident, anger is increasing in the business community. Other traders are also preparing to raise their voice on this issue. They say that if this kind of harassment by the officials continues, then they too may be forced to protest. It has become clear from this sit-in that the tension between traders and officials is increasing, and if no solution is found soon, then this protest can take a more widespread form.
