CPI(M) leader Hannan Mollah slams BJP govt, questions denial of permission to Akhilesh Yadav to visit JPNIC
CPI(M) leader Hannan Mollah on Friday slammed the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh for not allowing the Samajwadi Party chief.Akhilesh Yadav will visit the Jai Prakash Narayan International Centre (JPNIC) in Lucknow on the freedom fighter's birth anniversary. Mollah called the ban an insult to the memory of Jai Prakash Narayan. "Jayaprakash was known for his respect for democracy, constitution and secularism in India. He played a leading role in the struggle against the Emergency. If people are prevented from entering his place, it is an insult to his memory," Mollah told ANI. Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) denies permissionAkhilesh Yadav has got permission to visit the Jai Prakash Narayan International Centre (JPNIC) on the freedom fighter's birth anniversary.
The LDA said that JPNIC is an active construction site, with scattered material that could be hazardous. Meanwhile, the SP chief on Friday accused the ruling BJP of not allowing socialists to pay homage to Jai Prakash Narayan on his birth anniversary. "Many of the socialists are in the government and helping the government run. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar emerged from his (Jai Prakash Narayan) movement. This is a chance for Nitish Kumar to withdraw support from the government, which is not allowing socialists to pay homage to Jai Prakash Narayan on his birth anniversary," Akhilesh Yadav told reporters. The SP chief garlanded the statue of Jai Prakash Narayan on the road outside JPNIC. He alleged that the UP government was trying to sell off JPNIC. He alleged, "We celebrate his (Jai Prakash Narayan) birth anniversary... This government is trying to stop us from garlanding him, but we did it on the road. They are conspiring to sell this museum and that is why they have covered JPNIC.
Just think, the government which is trying to sell the museum built in honour of Jai Prakash Narayan, how can you expect them to protect the Constitution? When the police will come, when they will go, we will celebrate his birth anniversary here. This government is dumb, deaf and blind. Today is Ram Navami and see what kind of adharma they are doing today. If it was not a festival today, these barricades would not have stopped the Samajwadis." Akhilesh Yadav said that if there was any concern about security, they should have been allowed to go with security. He said, "The BJP has a streak of destruction in its hands. Destructive expressions can be seen on their faces. They are destructive people. How can you expect the Chief Minister to respect great personalities? What does he know about Jayaprakash Narayan and his contribution? If he knew about his (Jai Prakash Narayan) contribution, the same force that is being deployed here to stop us would have helped us pay tribute - this force should not have been deployed on Navratri and they would have allowed us to celebrate the festival as they are celebrating." However, in a letter dated October 10, the LDA mentioned that JPNIC is a construction site where the material is spread haphazardly and there is a possibility of pest infestation due to rain. "JPNIC is a construction site where the construction material is spread haphazardly and there is a possibility of pest infestation due to rain," the LDA said.
