Wedding filmmaker Vishal Punjabi said in a recent podcast that he was about to make a film with Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra a few years ago but later it could not be made. Vishal said that he could not do this film because he was expelled from India. Actually, Vishal came to India on a tourist visa to work on this film. However, Vishal Punjabi believes that this happened to him because of working with Shah Rukh Khan. Vishal Punjabi said in a podcast, "For some reason, the government was not very kind to him. I think it is because of his religion.

In an exclusive interview with Brown Game Strong YouTube channel, director Vishal Punjabi said, In 2007, I tried to make a big Bollywood film. I also wrote the script with Zoya Akhtar, she is a great director. At that time he was trying to do my first film. Priyanka said yes to my film, it had me, Reema and Zoya. Vishal said that he was thrown out of India even before the shooting of the film started because he did not have an OCI. He had a tourist visa but was not allowed to work on a tourist visa. "This is India and I foolishly thought India would sort it out," he said.

Vishal said, "I was thrown out of India and there was nothing anyone could do about it. Working with Shah Rukh Khan meant that everyone looked up to him. And that weakened my arguments because it wasn't the government. I get along very well with them. I think it was heartbreaking for them to see me come back. They did everything they could. I was going through a very bad time and they were constantly trying to get me back."
