Noida Police unveils case of pressurizing high officials through spoofing calls, accused arrested

Noida, 2 October 2024 – Sector-142 police station has unearthed an important cyber crime, in which an accused made fake calls using the CUG (Closed User Group) number of high officials through spoofing calls and tried to pressurize them. To give detailed information about this case, a press conference was organized by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Central Noida today at the Deputy Commissioner of Police office in Surajpur. Addressing the press, Deputy Commissioner of Police Central Noida said that in this cyber crime, the accused tried to pressurize various persons through spoofing calls by misusing the names of high officials and their official numbers. Spoofing call is a method in which another number is displayed in place of the real number, making the call recipient believe that the call is actually made by a high official or authorized person. The accused has been arrested with the promptness of Sector-142 police station and the help of cyber cell. Police said that the accused was already involved in many cases and many important evidences have been collected from her, on the basis of which more revelations are likely.

During the press conference, the Deputy Commissioner of Police said that in this case it was possible to reach the criminal by using cyber security and technical means properly. He appealed to the citizens to be aware of such cyber crimes and immediately inform the police about any suspicious call. Due to this cyber crime, the police has advised the public to be especially vigilant, so that such fraud incidents can be avoided in future. The Deputy Commissioner of Police said that Noida Police is working with full alertness in cyber crime cases and strict action will be taken against the culprits in such cases. Through this press conference, Noida Police has once again strengthened its commitment against cyber crime.
