Shambhu Singh Mertia suspended over controversy over Education Minister's poster
After the controversy over the poster of Education Minister Madan Dilawar in Jodhpur, the state government has suspended employee leader Shambhu Singh Mertia in this matter. Along with this, the state government also issued an order on Friday evening, in which orders have been issued to ensure strict compliance of the previously issued guidelines regarding the use of social media by government employees. The government suspended teacher leader Shambhu Singh Mertia, who came into the limelight by publicly putting up posters against the state government's Education Minister Madan Dilawar. Shambhu Singh had put up posters in the district against the Education Minister, on which was written 'Paltu Ram'. Now the Personnel Department of the state government has issued a circular in this matter. In this, guidelines have been issued to control and regulate those who propagate/broadcast allegations/comments against the government on the social media accounts of employees.
Although the then state government had issued a guideline on 12 October 2017 regarding the use of social media by employees, but according to the order of the Personnel Department, it has now been asked to ensure strict compliance of these guidelines. Meaning, now if a government employee criticizes the government or makes unproven allegations on social media, then employees and officers may have to face strict action like suspension. Education Minister Madan Dilawar issued many verbal orders in the education department in the past, but ultimately they could not be implemented. Regarding this, recently, teacher leader Shambhu Singh Mertia put up posters against the Education Minister in Jodhpur city. After this, the Education Department suspended Mertia.
In the order issued from the District Education Officer Headquarters office, it is written that Shambhu Singh Mertia, Teacher Level I, who is working in Government Primary School, Baga, Sursagar, Jodhpur, during the visit of Education Minister to Jodhpur, repeatedly raised indecent slogans against the State Government and Education Department, burnt the effigy of the Education Minister, protested against the Education Minister in various newspapers and put up hoardings against the Education Minister at various places in Jodhpur city and apart from this, he is suspended with immediate effect under Rule 13 (2) of Rajasthan Civil Services Rules 1958 for using indecent words like Paltu Ram for the Education Minister and tarnishing the image of the department among the public.
In fact, teacher employee leader Shambhu Singh Mertia had called the Education Minister Paltu Ram by putting up hoardings at various places in Jodhpur city. It was written in the posters that in the last 7 months, 7 orders were issued by the Education Minister and later they were reversed. Mertiya told that he enrolled 106 children in the school instead of four children, and developed the school by investing 6 lakh rupees and the school was registered in the PM Shri Yojana. He never received any notice in his 28 years of service, but his name was removed from the Teacher Samman due to malice. However, after this case, the social media activities of government employees will remain under the government's surveillance under the guidelines.
