Bhumana Karunakara Reddy detained by police

Former TTD chairman and YSRCP leader Bhumana Karunakara Reddy was detained by the police on Monday. He was taking oath at the Tirumala temple on the ongoing controversy over the use of adulterated ghee in making Srivari laddu prasadam. Bhumana Karunakara Reddy reached Tirumala at 4 pm on Monday and announced that he would take oath on the issue of adulteration in laddu. First he took a holy bath in Pushkarini and went to Akhilandalam in front of the main gate of the temple. There he broke a coconut and offered Harati to the Lord. He took an oath that he had nothing to do with the purchase of adulterated ghee.
He alleged that some people were making such allegations for political purposes. He said, 'If I have done any such wrongdoing, I and my family will die.' At that time police officials including DSP Vijay Shekhar stopped him and sent him to Tirupati in a car. According to information, the police stopped Bhumana at the GNC tollgate in Tirumala and said they would let him go on the condition that he would not make any political comments or speeches. They also reportedly took a written agreement from Bhumana. Tirupati MP M Gurumurthy and YSRCP leaders accompanied the former TTD chairman to Tirumala.
