Major accident during firing practice in Nashik, two Agniveers died

Two Agniveers died tragically in a serious accident that took place during a firing practice on Thursday at the Military Training Center in Nashik district. At the time of the incident, the Agniveers were being trained on Indian guns. Suddenly a gun exploded, seriously injuring Gohil Vishwaraj Singh (20) and Saifit Shet (21).

Officials present at the spot said that hearing the sound of the explosion created panic among other training Agniveers and officers. Immediately both the injured Agniveers were admitted to the Military Hospital in Deolali. However, despite all the efforts of the doctors, the condition of both remained critical and they died after some time.

After the incident, Havildar Ajit Kumar lodged a complaint at the Deolali police station, on the basis of which the police have started investigating the matter. Initial investigation has revealed that the explosion may have occurred due to technical fault or negligence in the gun. Considering the seriousness of the matter, the police have started inspecting all the relevant documents and the spot.

Local officials and military officials have expressed grief over the incident and said that all necessary steps will be taken to prevent recurrence of such accidents. They said that safety standards will be strictly enforced and appropriate action will be taken against the culprits in this case.

This incident has raised questions on safety standards not only in Nashik but across the country. Steps will also be taken to support the families of the Agniveers after this tragic incident. The government has expressed condolences to the victim families and assured them of all possible help.
