TTD assures pure cow ghee used in making Srivari laddus

After the adulteration of cow ghee used in making Srivari laddus, TTD is now procuring pure cow ghee from Nandini and Alpha Milk Foods. TTD Executive Officer J Shyamala Rao told the media on Sunday evening that they have taken several steps to protect the sanctity of Srivari Prasadam. He clarified that they want to assure devotees that pure quality cow ghee has been used in making the laddus. For this, TTD has taken several initiatives and set up several systems, including hiring the services of external laboratories to check adulteration in ghee and setting up a sensory panel of 18 members in TTD, who have been trained at the Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI) in Mysore. Apart from this, NDDB has agreed to donate an adulteration testing laboratory to TTD, which costs around Rs 75 lakh. The EO said the laboratory could be ready in December. Shyamala Rao said the TTD was now buying pure cow ghee from Nandini and Alpha Milk Foods at the rate of Rs 475 per kg. The ghee supplied from these sources is used only for making prasad and those samples were also tested, the results of which were satisfactory.
