Kejriwal vacates CM residence, AAP calls it 'example of sacrifice'
Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday vacated his 6, Flagstaff Road residence and moved to his new address in Lutyens Zone. Kejriwal moved into the bungalow at 5 Ferozeshah Road, currently allotted to AAP's Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Mittal. Describing Kejriwal as an "example of sacrifice", the Aam Aadmi Party said now the public will show its faith in Kejriwal's honesty and make him CM again. "Example of sacrifice: Kejriwal. Today former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal along with his family vacated the Chief Minister's residence. Now the public will show its faith in Kejriwal's honesty and make him CM again," the AAP posted on Twitter.
It said, "Arvind Kejriwal, the hero of politics of work, left the Chief Minister's residence and went to the public's court. Arvind Kejriwal, who started a new chapter in politics by lighting up lakhs of homes in Delhi, today left the Chief Minister's residence along with his family." Earlier, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) confirmed, Arvind Kejriwal will shift to the bungalow allotted to party MP Ashok Mittal at 5, Ferozshah Road." Notably, according to sources, Mittal himself had offered Arvind Kejriwal to shift to his residence. AAP Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Mittal offered his official residence to Kejriwal and said that he is happy that the AAP national convenor is going to stay with him. Ashok Mittal said, "When Arvind Kejriwal resigned from the CM post a few days ago, I came to know after some time that he does not have a house to live in. I invited him to stay as a guest in my Delhi house. Maybe other party workers and leaders also invited him. I am happy to know that he has chosen my house and decided to stay with me till he gets a house. So, as an AAP worker and MP, it is a matter of happiness for me. I will get a chance to learn from him. I hope that in the upcoming Delhi elections, the public will support him as always and he will once again become the CM of Delhi with an absolute majority. On September 17, Kejriwal had submitted his resignation from the post of Chief Minister to Delhi LG VK Saxena, after which Atishi had staked claim to form the new government. Just a few days ago, the AAP chief was released on bail from Tihar Jail in the excise policy case. Kejriwal said that he will return to the post only if he gets a fresh mandate and a "certificate of integrity" from the people of Delhi in the assembly elections to be held in February 2025. Atishi was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Delhi on September 22 after AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal named her successor to the post.
