20-25% more special trains will run in Purvanchal direction during Durga Puja, Diwali and Chhath Puja
If you want to go towards Purvanchal direction during Durga Puja, Diwali and Chhath Puja and do not have a reserved ticket in regular trains, then there is nothing to worry about. During this time, the railway is preparing to run 20-25% more special trains as compared to last year. Special trains will be run every day during the festival by assessing the crowd, so that maximum number of people can reach their homes and participate in the festivals. Like every year, this time also on the occasion of Diwali and Chhath Puja, a large number of people from all over the country will leave for Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, while before that during Durga Puja, towards West Bengal and Assam. Therefore, the railway is preparing to run a large number of trains to travel on these routes.
Every year, due to the rush of passengers during festivals, tickets in most of the regular trains go into waiting list two-three months in advance. This year also, there is no vacant reserved berth in any regular train including Saptkranti, Poorva, Bihar Sampark Kranti, Satyagraha, Garib Rath. Due to strict rules, this year passengers will not be able to travel even on waiting tickets. Railway Board has instructed Northern Railway to make special preparations. Regular monitoring has also been asked. During festivals, there is a rush of people leaving from Delhi, and after the festival is over, there is a rush of people coming. In view of this, the railway has decided to run special trains from October 1 to November 30. After the festival is over, those coming in the return direction will also get convenience from the running of these trains. After Durga Puja ends, most of the trains in the return direction will run via West Bengal to reach UP, Bihar and Delhi, while after Diwali and Chhath Puja are over, special trains will run from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar to Delhi.
According to railway officials, in view of the heavy rush of passengers, a total of 4,429 special trains were run last year, through which lakhs of passengers were helped to reach their respective destinations. This year more than six thousand special trains will run. Estimating the number of passengers, this year the railway administration has decided that most of the trains going towards Purvanchal should be run from Anand Vihar railway station. Actually, due to the larger area of the station premises and platform, it is easier to control the crowd as compared to New Delhi and Old Delhi stations. A holding area will also be created by putting up tents outside the station premises, so that only those whose train is announced to arrive on the platform can be allowed to reach the platform. This will reduce the crowd at the station and there will be no stampede.
Keeping in mind the convenience of the passengers, the railway has decided to run train number 04044/04043 Anand Vihar-Gorakhpur special train. This train will run from both directions two days a week. Train number 04044 Anand Vihar Terminal-Gorakhpur Special will run every Tuesday and Saturday from November 26 with immediate effect, while train number 04043 Gorakhpur-Anand Vihar Special will run every Sunday and Wednesday till November 27. Apart from this, train number 04062 Anand Vihar to Barauni Weekly Special will run every Sunday from 6 October to 17 November. In the return direction, train number 04061 will run from Barauni to Anand Vihar every Monday between 7 October to 18 November.
