A cook from Mandi district who came to cook food for the second Shraddha in Kakkar Panchayat of Bhoranj subdivision of Hamirpur district of Himachal Pradesh died due to pressure cooker explosion. This has caused a wave of mourning in the area. Kakkar Panchayat Pradhan Vinod Kumar said that Gyan Chand son of Kanshi Ram, from village Paranoh Tehsil Sarkaghat had come to Dinanath's house in Bhadthu village on Wednesday morning to cook food for Shraddha. At around 9:00, he put the lentils in the cooker to cook on gas.

After a while, when he saw that the lentils were cooked and started lifting the cooker, suddenly the lid of the cooker burst and hit the cook's face and chest. After this, the person was taken to Civil Hospital Bhoranj, where the doctors declared him dead. The deceased has two daughters, who are married. One son is unmarried. The deceased's brother Sher Singh said that he had been working as a cook for many years. The deceased belonged to a poor family. Bhoranji police station in-charge Nirmal Singh confirmed the incident and said that the police have handed over the body to the family after conducting a post-mortem at the district Hamirpur hospital.
