Atishi will take charge of Delhi after Arvind Kejriwal's resignation

The ruling Aam Aadmi Party said on Tuesday that Delhi's Education Minister Atishi will take over as the new Chief Minister of the National Capital Territory of India after Arvind Kejriwal's resignation. Atishi has been elected as the new Chief Minister of Delhi in the Aam Aadmi Party Legislature Party meeting. With this election, Arvind Kejriwal has put an end to the long-running upheaval and political war over the leadership of the Delhi government. These speculations were being made ever since Kejriwal went to jail on charges of liquor scam.

Atishi will be the new Chief Minister of Delhi. Today, in the meeting of the Aam Aadmi Party's Legislative Party, it was decided that Atishi will be made the new Chief Minister of Delhi. In the meeting of the Legislative Party at Arvind Kejriwal's residence, the Aam Aadmi Party chief himself proposed her name, on which the MLAs stood up and put their seal. Atishi, who emerged as the most powerful minister of the government after Kejriwal went to jail, is a first-time MLA from Kalkaji.

She has also played an important role in making Delhi's education policy. Atishi is considered a confidant of both Kejriwal and Sisodia. Atishi, who is handling about 18 departments, now has good experience of administration. She has been strongly presenting the party's side in front of the media. By making Atishi the CM, Kejriwal has also tried to appease half the population before the assembly elections. Kejriwal, who came out after being in jail for several months in the alleged liquor scam, had announced his resignation on Sunday. He will submit his resignation to LG VK Saxena on Tuesday evening. Kejriwal has said that he will not sit on the CM's chair again until he wins the election and gets a certificate of honesty from the public.

In the 2020 assembly elections, the Aam Aadmi Party won 62 seats in Delhi and formed the government for the third consecutive time. Kejriwal took over as the Chief Minister in the capital for the third consecutive time. But the party got into trouble over the liquor policy made in 2021-22. Former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal himself had to go to jail.
