The much-anticipated film 'Kanguva' starring Surya is creating a buzz even before its release. After being in production for a long time, the latest buzz about the film is that its post-theatrical OTT rights have been secured by Amazon Prime Video. According to trade reports, the leading OTT platform has bought the digital rights for a whopping Rs 100 crore. The deal covers all language versions of the film and has broken previous records. This is even more than the Rs 95 crore fetched by Ajith's upcoming film 'Good Bad Ugly'. It is said to be the highest amount ever for the rights of a Surya film.

In comparison, the digital rights of Vijay's 'GOAT' were sold for a much higher amount of ₹110 crore. However, the hefty price of 'Kanguva' reflects the immense anticipation and confidence in Surya's star power and the film's potential. Directed by Siva, 'Kanguva' is a period fantasy film that was initially scheduled to release on October 10, 2024, coinciding with the Ayudha Pooja festival. However, the film's release has now been postponed indefinitely after Rajinikanth's 'Vettaiyaan' was announced to hit the theatres on the same day. The new release date of 'Kanguva' is yet to be confirmed. Directed by Siva, the film also stars Bollywood actor Bobby Deol in a negative role, while Disha Patani plays the female lead. The ensemble cast includes Natarajan Subramaniam, Jagapathi Babu, Yogi Babu, KS Ravikumar and others, adding to the film's star-studded appeal. With such a strong lineup and a massive OTT deal, 'Kanguva' is set to be one of the biggest releases in recent times, further cementing Suriya's position as a leading star in Indian cinema.
