Singer Shreya Ghoshal has joined the campaign to get justice for the victim of the rape and murder of a junior doctor in Kolkata's RG Kar Hospital. Famous singer Shreya Ghoshal has announced the cancellation of her live music concert scheduled to be held in Kolkata in September. She gave this information on Saturday. Shreya Ghoshal issued a statement on her official Facebook page saying, “The live music concert scheduled for September 14 in Kolkata has been rescheduled for October.” She added, “I am deeply hurt by the recent heinous incident in Kolkata. Being a woman, it is unimaginable to even think about the cruelty meted out to her and it gives me goosebumps.

According to Shreya Ghoshal, everyone was eagerly waiting for this concert. But, it was extremely important for her to take a united stand on this issue and stand with the protesters. She said in the statement, “I pray for the respect and safety of women in this world and in our country. I hope my friends and fans will accept and understand our decision to go ahead with this concert.

Already many community Durga Puja organisers in West Bengal have refused to take the annual donation from the state government for the upcoming Durga Puja festival. Not only this, a theatre group from Malda district of West Bengal has also returned the donation cheque received from the state government for organising a theatre fair. Meanwhile, protests by junior doctors are continuing in different government hospitals of West Bengal. They are demanding strict punishment for the culprit in the rape and murder case. Everyone was eagerly waiting for this concert of Shreya Ghoshal. But, it was very important for her to take a united stand on this issue and stand with the protesters.
