Rape and attempt to murder daughter-in-law for not getting Rs 20 lakh in dowry

When a married woman resident of a mohalla in the city Kotwali area did not fulfill the demand of Rs 20 lakh in dowry, the people of her in-laws' side tried to kill her. Not only this, finding her alone at home, the accused brother-in-law also tried to rape her. On the complaint of the victim, the Mahila Thana Police has registered a report against four accused including the accused husband. The victim, a resident of the mohalla, told that on May 10, 2023, she was married to a youth resident of Pandavnagar Delhi. Her maternal family had spent about Rs 50 lakh in the marriage. On May 14, her husband, mother-in-law, father-in-law and brother-in-law started harassing her by demanding an additional Rs 20 lakh in dowry. On 24 September 2023, the people of the in-laws' side had gone out of the house and she was alone at home.
