Department of Anaesthesiology, Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences will celebrate its 37th Foundation Day on 5th October 2024 (Saturday) at the Professor Soma Kaushik Auditorium, Department of Anaesthesiology. Professor Dr. Praveen Kumar Neema, Head, Department of Cardiac Anaesthesia, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi will be the Chief Guest of the event. He will deliver the 5th Professor Soma Kaushik Lecture. The lecture is named after Prof. Soma Kaushik, the first Head of the Department of Anaesthesiology, Sanjay Gandhi PGI. The event will also include CME lectures focused on emerging new frontiers in the field of Anaesthesiology, such as the use of Artificial Intelligence for better outcomes for patients undergoing anaesthesia for surgery. Eminent faculty will also discuss ethical issues, work – life balance and future prospects in the field of Anaesthesiology to guide medical students pursuing postgraduate education in Anaesthesiology. The CME lecture will enhance the knowledge of the attendees and enhance their clinical skills.

Director, SGPGI Dr. R.K. Dhiman and Dean, Dr. Shaleen Kumar will also share their views and words of wisdom with the attendees. Professor Prabhat Tiwari, Head, Department of Anaesthesiology will address the audience and inform them about the foundation and future course of the department. Outstanding members and staff of the department will also be felicitated on the day, which will encourage them and motivate them to improve themselves and patient service. The event will also have a live discussion with media representatives regarding public awareness about anaesthesia.
