Department of Anaesthesiology celebrates 37th Foundation Day, confers excellence awards

Lucknow, 5 October 2024: The Department of Anaesthesiology celebrated its 37th Foundation Day on Saturday at Prof. Soma Kaushik Auditorium. On this special occasion, Prof. Praveen Kumar Neema, Head, Department of Cardiac Anaesthesia, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi, was present as the Chief Guest. At the beginning of the programme, Prof. Neema delivered the keynote address to Prof. Soma Kaushik, sharing his experiences in the evolution of anaesthesia practices. Acting Director Prof. Shubha R Phadke, Dean Prof. Shalin Kumar and Head of the Department of Anaesthesiology, SGPGI, Prof. Prabhat Tiwari were also present at the event. A CME lecture was organised for postgraduate students and delegates in the programme. Prof. Sujeet Kumar Singh Gautam gave a detailed discussion on the role of Artificial Intelligence in Anaesthesiology. Apart from this, Dr. Tapas Singh highlighted ethical issues in intensive care. Prof. Punit Goyal shared new insights into the future of anesthesiology, while Dr. Chetna Shamshery presented her views on the importance of work-life balance for doctors.

The event was attended by around 200 delegates, an excellent group of experts and students from the field. During the event, excellence awards were presented in various categories for the year 2024. The Best Faculty award was given to Dr. Suruch, Best Junior Resident III award was given to Dr. Esther Owk. Apart from this, awards for Best Office Staff, Nursing Officer, Technical Officer and Office Assistant were also given to various members. The event was moderated by Dr. Sandeep Khuba, Dr. Divya Shrivastava, Dr. Ruchi Verma and other resident doctors. The ceremony was an important occasion to highlight the achievements and future prospects of the Department of Anesthesiology.
