BJP's Sudhanshu Trivedi hits out at Congress over MUDA scam
BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi hit out at Congress over the alleged MUDA scam and said that the Congress was the first to make allegations in the case and the verdict has already been passed by the Karnataka Lokayukta court. Attacking the party further, he asked if Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and AICC president Sonia Gandhi were supporting "corrupt" leaders. "In the MUDA scam case of Karnataka Congress CM Siddaramaiah, the way his family amassed huge wealth by misusing land and government authority in the Mysore Urban Development Authority, the court has given this verdict in which CM Siddaramaiah has been made accused number one. Is the Chief Minister the first and main accused in this? The important thing is that no central agency has investigated it and no one has filed any application on their own," Trivedi said while addressing a press conference on Saturday. He said that this decision has come from the Lokayukta court of Karnataka because the allegations were made by the Congress party.
Trivedi said, this decision has come from the Lokayukta court of Karnataka because the allegations were made by the Congress itself. Now I want to ask Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi whether they stand with corrupt leaders and remember that this matter has been done by your party members only. I want to tell you that Mallikarjun Kharge is also from Karnataka and ever since he is in office, corruption has doubled in Karnataka. The BJP leader further said that Siddaramaiah has been trying to "save himself" from the investigation of the case for the last few months. He said, I would also like to remind you that Siddaramaiah has been trying to save himself from the investigation of the case for the last few months.
This is one of the rare cases in history in which a sitting chief minister has been accused of a scam. A petition has been filed in the Karnataka High Court, seeking a CBI inquiry against Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in the alleged MUDA scam. Petitioner Snehamayi Krishna in the case has said that the probe should be conducted by a central investigating agency as the Lokayukta works under the Karnataka government and the chief minister. A special court in Bengaluru on Wednesday passed an order directing the Karnataka Lokayukta to probe Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah over allegations of illegalities in the allotment of 14 sites worth Rs 56 crore by the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) to his wife Parvathy.
