The
investigation is linked to multiple FIRs registered by the Mira Bhayandar Vasai
Virar (MBVV) Police Commissionerate regarding illegal construction of
residential and commercial buildings on government and private land under the
jurisdiction of the Vasai Virar Municipal Corporation (VVMC) since 2009.
Authorities also recovered a large number of incriminating documents during the
searches.
The case
involves builders and developers accused of fraudulently constructing and
selling flats in unauthorized buildings using fake approval documents. The
Bombay High Court had previously ordered the demolition of 41 illegal buildings
in the area, which was carried out by VVMC on February 20, 2025.
Additionally,
the ED confiscated diamond-studded jewellery and bullion estimated to be worth
₹23.25 crore. A large number of incriminating documents and digital evidence
were also recovered during the operation. The ED has not yet disclosed the
names of the individuals or entities involved, but sources suggest the action was
linked to a probe involving suspected financial irregularities and laundering
of large sums of money through shell companies and high-value transactions.
The seized
assets are being catalogued, and further investigation is underway to determine
the full scope of the money trail, the beneficiaries involved, and any
potential links to larger financial or criminal networks. This operation
underscores the ED's continued efforts to crack down on illicit financial flows
and reinforce transparency and accountability in the financial system.
Our channel does not officially confirm this news, all its information has been disseminated through Ed's Twitter post.
