Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said that India wants to create many Singapores in the country. He said this during a meeting with his Singaporean counterpart Lawrence Wong and also discussed ways to boost bilateral ties. PM Modi is on a two-day visit to the country at the invitation of Wong. Singapore is not only a partner country but an inspiration for every developing country. We want to create many Singapores in India. I am happy that we are working together in this direction. The ministerial roundtable formed between us is a path-breaking mechanism. The areas of skills, digitalisation, mobility, semiconductors, advanced manufacturing, AI, healthcare, sustainability cyber security cooperation have become symbols of the initiative. PM Modi said in his remarks while leading the delegation-level talks with his Singaporean counterpart.

Several MoUs were signed between India and Singapore in the field of digital technologies, health and medicine, educational cooperation and skill development and India-Singapore semiconductor ecosystem partnership in the presence of PM Modi and Singaporean PM Wong. Before the talks, PM Modi was accorded a ceremonial welcome at the Singapore Parliament building. PM ​​Modi and Singapore PM Wong met ministers and representatives of each other's countries at the Parliament building. PM ​​Modi also signed the visitor's book there.

This meeting between the two leaders comes a few days after Singapore PM Wong became the Prime Minister and PM Modi began his third term as Prime Minister. PM Modi congratulated him on becoming the Prime Minister and said, "I thank you for your warm welcome. This is our first meeting after assuming the office of Prime Minister. Many congratulations to you from my side. I am confident that Singapore will progress even faster under the leadership of 4G." PM Modi arrived in Singapore on Wednesday as part of the last leg of his two-nation tour from Brunei.
