The 120 tonnes of garbage has become a cause of trouble for the people of the city due to the strike of the sanitation workers for the last two days. The heaps of garbage at various places are inviting infectious diseases. The sanitation workers are still on strike. About 600 sanitation workers have been boycotting work since Thursday. The responsible officials of the Nagar Palika are ignoring the demands of the sanitation workers. They are not taking any steps to dispose of the garbage spread in the city.
600 outsourced sanitation workers working in the Nagar Palika have been on strike since Thursday over 11 point demands. The sanitation workers did not work on Friday as well. Due to this, there is a pile of garbage in the entire city. There is no such street or road left where there is no garbage. At the same time, due to drizzling rain, the garbage heaps have started stinking, which has created more problems. About 60 tonnes of garbage is collected in the city every day. This garbage is dumped in dumping grounds and garbage dumps. For the last two days, the sanitation workers have neither cleaned nor picked up the garbage. Due to the huge piles of garbage in the city, the risk of spreading infectious diseases has increased. The condition of the railway colony has worsened. There is a pile of garbage at the entrance of the colony. Due to which people are facing problems in commuting.
Under the leadership of District President of All India Safai Mazdoor Sangh Dinesh Valmiki, District General Secretary Sanjay Kumar Maurya, Divisional President Eastern Avadh Province Shivshankar Lal Valmiki, the sanitation workers staged a sit-in protest at the Jalkal Department premises on Canal Road on Friday as well. After 2 pm, a large number of sanitation workers marched on foot via DM residence, bus stand, civil court, Congress office, district hospital and reached the super market. They demonstrated and raised slogans outside the Municipal Corporation office. District President Dinesh Valmiki said that the protest will continue until the 11-point demands are met.

Senior doctor of the district hospital, Dr. Salim said that if the garbage is not lifted, infectious diseases will spread rapidly. Especially the number of patients of dengue, AES, JE, diarrhea and fever will increase rapidly. People should not spread garbage outside. Also, take special care of cleanliness.
