A sudden fire broke out in the firecrackers kept in a house in Naushera of Shikohabad in Firozabad district, which led to a loud explosion. Five people including a woman died in this explosion while many were injured. The explosion was so powerful that 12 nearby houses collapsed. While the windows and doors of many houses were broken, people buried in the debris were being searched with a JCB till late night.

Bhura Khan had rented Chandrapal's house in Naushera on the National Highway and made a warehouse for firecrackers. On Monday night at 10:30, the firecrackers caught fire due to some reason. It is likely that the workers were cooking food nearby, due to which the spark reached the firecrackers. The fire in the firecrackers caused a loud explosion and the walls of three nearby houses collapsed. The walls of many houses got cracked. Meera Devi, resident of Naushera, Sanjana, Deepak and Rakesh of a family that made wooden beds inside a house located at a short distance from the incident site were injured. All were taken to the Joint Hospital for treatment where four people died. Another died on Tuesday morning.

The deceased include Meera Devi (52), Aman (20), Gautam (18) and a 10-year-old girl, who has not been identified. While the other injured are undergoing treatment. Injured Vishnu and Rakesh have been sent to the district hospital of Firozabad. DM Ramesh Ranjan, SSP Saurabh Dixit, SP Rural Akhilesh Bhadoria had reached the spot. The fire brigade team also reached the spot for rescue work. People present at the spot said that how was a firecracker warehouse built in the middle of a dense population. Had Bhure Khan taken permission for this or was the warehouse being operated illegally. This needs to be investigated.

Keeping in mind the festival of Diwali, crackers are being stored illegally not only in Shikohabad but also in Firozabad. Action should be taken against them to prevent accidents. People were terrified by the sudden explosion in the area. People nearby said that the explosion was so loud that it felt as if a bomb had exploded. There was screaming all around after the blast. On getting information about the explosion, people nearby rushed to rescue them. Injured Vishnu and his father Rakesh were brought to the government trauma center at around 11:15 pm. Both are undergoing treatment there. Due to the explosion, cracks appeared in the walls of the houses of Bhole, Vinod Kushwaha, Chandrakant, Guddu, Shyam Singh, Anil, Rakesh, Pappu, Akhilesh, Radha Mohan, Sanjay, Surendra, Gaurav, Ram Murti, Prem Singh, Nathuram, Sonu, Dinesh, Jagdish, Rajendra, Santosh etc. Their vehicles were also damaged. More than 12 houses in the vicinity were razed to the ground in the explosion. DM Ramesh Ranjan, SSP Saurabh Dixit and other administrative officials who reached the spot have expressed the possibility of other people still being trapped under the debris of the houses. The debris was being removed with the help of two bulldozers. Cracks have appeared in the walls of many other houses in the vicinity as well. A large iron angle flew 200 meters away from the site of the incident and fell in a densely populated street. Bricks were lying on the roads. Even the cemented sheets on the houses of many people broke. Window panes and wooden doors broke in the middle. The panic was so much that people came out of their houses and ran away to save their lives.
