पश्चिम बंगाल की मुख्यमंत्री ममता बनर्जी एक बार फिर दामोदर घाटी निगम (डीवीसी) पर राज्य में बाढ़ की स्थिति को और खराब करने का आरोप लगाया।
Didi once again accuses Central government of worsening flood situation
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee once again accused the Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) of worsening the flood situation in the state. Banerjee said she had approached the Central government "at least 10 times" recently and earlier too, but has not received any response yet. Banerjee alleged that the Central government was trying to privatise the DVC and expressed concern that the flood situation could worsen if the corporation released more water. "Ganga Action Plan, Flood Control and DVC are under the Central government, but they have not done anything. That is why there are floods," Mamata told reporters. "We have sent letters ten times, but they have not taken any action and West Bengal is suffering. DVC does nothing; its capacity has come down to 20 per cent," Banerjee said. Now, there are efforts to privatise it."
Since Friday, Banerjee has sent two letters to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, requesting him to intervene in the flood situation and release funds. She said the floods were mainly man-made as the DVC unnecessarily released water from its dams. On Sunday, two West Bengal government officials resigned from the board of the Damodar Valley Reservoir Regulation Committee (DVRRC), a move that came days after Banerjee threatened to sever ties with the DVC. Banerjee held an administrative meeting at the Purba Bardhaman district collectorate and visited relief camps. "The DVC is still releasing water. Two more pressures will build up, leading to heavy rains in additional districts. If it rains again and the DVC releases more water, the situation will worsen," she warned. She assured the public of her administration's support and directed all officials, MPs and MLAs to reach out to the affected people and ensure that they receive the necessary relief material and medicines.
