A six-year-old boy was allegedly sexually assaulted by his 35-year-old neighbour in south-east Delhi's Govindpuri area, officials said on Wednesday. The matter came to light on Tuesday after the boy revealed that he was inappropriately touched by the neighbour on Sunday, they said. A case was registered under the POCSO Act and the accused, Balram Das alias Kalu, was arrested on Tuesday night. When the police team was taking Kalu to the police station, a large number of people gathered and tried to attack the accused and the police staff.

However, the police managed to take the accused to the police station safely. Later, a crowd gathered at the gate of Govindpuri police station demanding action against the accused. Senior officials reached the spot and pacified the people by assuring strict action against the accused. Giving information about the case, a police officer said that the boy's family had approached the local police and informed that the six-year-old child had gone missing on September 1.
